For the longest time after getting born again, I really struggled with the exact meaning of faith and what it really looked like in my life. It always felt like there were things that I completely believed and trusted God for, then there were those things that I struggled to believe God for. If I’m being truly honest, I was always trying to convince my head that I’m in faith for those things I was trusting God for, but the truth was, I just didn’t see how God would or could answer my prayers for those particular things. I’m sure just like me, there are many of you who have experienced this. A couple of years ago, the HolySpirit began to give me amazing revelations on what faith truly is and I want to share that with you today.

Immediately after I got born again, I began to pray and ask God to enable me to have relationship with Him like He had with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. I prayed this prayer for a while, then I came across Romans 1:16-17 that says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also the Greek (gentile). For in it the righteousness (right standing;God makes us right in His sight) of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just (the righteous) shall live by faith’”(New King James version- emphasis mine).

It suddenly dawned on me that I was already made right with God through Jesus Christ and that there was no barrier between God and myself. The ONLY barrier was ME, because I had not really accepted that I was right with God but had been trying to earn His righteousness on my own. I realized that I did not have to do anything. All that I needed to do was believe on Jesus and receive what He had purchased for me at the cross (John 6:29), which was, He had given me His righteousness and taken my unrighteousness and unworthiness and nailed them to the cross … .Halleluyah! This was great news to me because it meant that I could have relationship with God just like Adam and Eve had with Him in the garden of Eden, and the best part of it was that nothing and no one could come in between our relationship (Romans 8:35).

It is completely impossible to have relationship with God without faith because we are justified (accepted) by faith (Romans 3:22-24). Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (King James Version). This means that at the point of salvation when we hear the good news of Jesus Christ, we receive the faith of Jesus Christ which enables us to believe on everything that Jesus accomplished at the cross (Romans 10:8-10). This means that our walk with God as believers only uses the Faith of Jesus and not our own faith. Our own faith is futile because it is based on the 5 senses i.e. see, taste, hear, smell and feel. When I got born again, I believed with all my heart that I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Did I see God with my physical eyes? No I didn’t, but I believed in my heart that He was God and He loved me, as I’m sure you did as well.

None of us or at least most of us have not seen God with our physical eyes but we believe without a shadow of doubt that He is and He exists and above all that He loves us. So why should faith operate any differently when receiving anything from God, be it healing, finances, restoration of marriages, and many other things that we ask God for. The same faith you had when you got born again is the same faith you use for every other thing you ask or expect from God. Romans 12:3, tells us that we each have received ‘THE measure of faith’, not ‘A measure’, but ‘THE measure’ meaning that our faith is complete because it is THE FAITH OF GOD.

Friend, you have the faith of God working in you and there is nothing that shall be impossible for you because all things are possible to him that believes (Mark 9:23; Matthew 19:26; Luke 18:27).

So be encouraged that you have all it takes to receive all of the promises and blessings of God in your life. Blessings!
