Salvation is a gift that keeps on giving and reproducing its fruit wherever it is received. It is timeless.

First of all, let’s define salvation. What really is salvation? In simple words, I would describe salvation as being born into the family of God (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17). This happens by simply believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He came to earth and was crucified for our sins, died and resurrected, to give us eternal life (John 3:16). He is seated at the right hand of God the Father, having defeated and made a great public spectacle of satan and his minions (read demons) forever (Colossians 2:14-15). Meaning satan has no dominion over any person who has received God’s love through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross- satan is under our feet (Romans 16:20; Genesis 3:15).

Amazing Fact:

Did you know that crucifixion was a method of execution that was used as a form of capital punishment for the worst criminals since it was viewed as a torturous mode of execution. According to jewish tradition which is detailed in the bible in Deuteronomy 21:22-23, anyone who died by crucifixion was under God’s curse. Crucifixion was supposed to take days for the victim to die because they were left hanging, struggling to breathe until their muscles became exhausted and they couldn’t pull themselves up to even breath. This would eventually lead to their death due to either exhaustion or suffocation. But Jesus died after hanging on the cross for only 6 hours (Luke 23:44-46), then He gave up His spirit and died (John 19:30). With the kind of suffering Jesus went through, it’s a wonder He was able to stay on the cross for 6 hours before dying. Jesus torture and suffering was more than any living, breathing man could take, but Jesus took it all and went through it without complaining or trying to explain Himself.. The beating He underwent was so horrific to the point that He was physically unrecognizable (Isaiah 52:14). His face was torn, His beard ripped from His face and a crown of thorns that was about two or three inches of thorns was placed on His head and cut deeply into His scalp. After His death, one of the Roman soldiers, perhaps out of sheer surprise that Jesus died within just 6 hours and not days as was the norm, pierced Jesus’ side with a spear. Immediately, blood and water gushed out. This water is most likely what is today referred to as pericardial fluid. For blood and water to flow out this way it means that Jesus most likely had a cardiac rupture. This means that the walls, muscles and valves of Jesus’s heart came apart. The weight of the punishment of all mankind’s sin was carried and fulfilled in Jesus, and it literally broke His heart. So Jesus literally died of a broken heart.

Salvation is a life changing experience, and it happens only once in a person’s life and is a permanent state of being. Once a person receives Jesus into their hearts by believing in their heart and confessing with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that He is the Son of God raised from the dead (Romans 10:9-11), then the person automatically joins the family of God and becomes a citizen of heaven. Salvation is a one time experience which cannot be rescinded or canceled or even undone, it is a permanent state because we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13). Hebrews 6:4-6 tells us that the only time a person can reject their salvation is if they are a mature christian and have tasted of the goodness of God but have willfully rejected His love by renouncing their salvation. Verse 4-6 lists the 5 things that a person would have to do before they can be capable of ‘falling away’ from their salvation. Those 5 things listed, all indicate the attributes of a mature christian.

I know many people have been said to have backslid, and there are many who for one reason or the other have blasphemed God or decided they’re done with God, but guess what, God does not count that as rejecting or renouncing Him. If you truly got born again then life happened and you decided God is against you or you got caught up with life and decided to go it alone without God, and many other reasons for deciding salvation is not for you, God is and has still been pursuing you and waiting for you to come back home. Therefore it just means that you are simply not a mature believer but still an immature believer and Hebrews 5:12-14 talks more about spiritual immaturity. Therefore immature christians cannot reject their salvation. It’s like if a child were to say they renounce their parents and family, and that they no longer want their parents to be their parents and they want new parents. There is no law in any land that would uphold such a decision because the child is a minor and incapable of making mature and good decisions. But once they become adults they can choose what they want, and we have seen people change their last names, etc. This is why the news about Jesus Christ is called the gospel, because it is good news. Hence, salvation is simply a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

When you get born again, you become a new person, a new being. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says you become a new creation. You receive a new spirit, which is the spirit of Jesus Christ who is God. So you no longer have a sinful nature which was in the old spirit man, but you now have a righteous nature exactly like that of Jesus Christ. So guess what, you and God become one (1 Corinthians 6:17; John 17:23). So just think about it for a minute, the GodHead bodily meaning God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit come to live in you, because Colossians 2:9 says, “For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” This means that Jesus is fully God and therefore has the fullness of God’s nature in Him. Therefore everything God is and has is in Christ and when you get born again, voila, you are in Christ, and this makes you an heir to the kingdom of God. So everything that belongs to Jesus also belongs to you.

Salvation is the only key that opens you up to everything in God’s kingdom, because you automatically become a son of God and a co-heir with Christ (Romans 8:14-17). It also unveils who God created you to be (Romans 12:1-2; Romans 8:37).

Today, if you have not received the gift of salvation, do not harden your heart to God’s voice (Hebrews 3:15-17), for He wants you to no longer be in bondage to satan and to sin and death, but He desires for you to live an abundant life in Christ Jesus, Who gave His life in exchange for yours.

Friend, God loves you so so much, and all He wants is for you to have the fullness of life not only here on earth but in the life here in after. He desires only good for you and He has so much love to give you if you will only receive it.

If you would like or desire to give your life to Christ, say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me so much and dying on the cross on my behalf. I repent of all my sins and right now I receive your gift of love and I acknowledge You as My Lord and King, in Jesus name I pray and believe. Amen.

Praise God, you are now a child of God and a citizen of Heaven. Welcome to the family of God.

Heaven rejoices over you with singing.

Luke 15:7 (NKJV):

“I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”
